One of the first paintings I ever made. You can see it in the rawness of my hand, the uneven brushstrokes and its many imperfections... It was right after I bought my first set of paints, and the world went into lockdown, just me, this obsession, and a new craft. 

That look haunted me for months. When I finally laid it down on paper and hung it on my shrine, the eyes followed me around the room, almost alive. Nothing quite compares to having a painting stare back at you, like it’s thinking for itself. That feeling hooked me.

Thanks to Joaquin, I learned to paint. I wanted to offer him a tribute worthy of his craft, something raw enough to hold the weight of that performance. It took years of self-taught obsession, trial, and sleepless practice. Two years later, life came full circle, and I found myself standing before him, handing him two of my paintings.
