Hey, I’m Ralu.
One impulsive decision - grabbing acrylics after watching Joker - led to me getting hugged by Joaquin Phoenix and placing two of my paintings in his hands. 🔥
Validation? Nah. Just proof the universe pays attention when you go all in. Wild, right?
Before that, I spent years sketching neat little pencil portraits... but Joaquin’s performance wrecked me in the best way. Watching his mastery at his craft inspired me to create my own - thus I started painting like my life depended on it.
I taught myself and played with my own fire as an escape from the pandemic anxiety. A couple years later, I trusted my own gut and made it so that I'd meet him. The story went full circle in spite of all odds.
Since then, I've been developing my style, recognizing timeless stories in my own life and painting them with a flair for the dramatic. Quite a LOT of that :D
Funny how we all think we're living something new... until we hear a song, a film or a legend that calls us out. That's what I paint.
Through this journey, my work’s travelled farther than I ever did, with originals hanging in homes from LA to New Zealand.
